Aristocrat Great Danes
ABOUT US
We are extremely fond of the great dane breed. They are truly gentle giants when they are raised with the love and respect that animals should be able to enjoy. Our goal is to help preserve this wonderful breed.
Through showing, health testing, training, love and care we hope to be able to produce the best Great Danes in the country of the Dominican Republic.
We fell in love with the breed over 25 years ago when we bought our first puppy. He had an excellent personality and temperament but has a couple genetic issues even back then. He was the perfect pet to have raising 3 young boys on a farm. Shortly after getting him we got involved in Great Dane rescue and helped by fostering some in our home until they found a home of their own. We had 6 danes in the house at one time.. 5 neutered males and one female puppy. Of course there was 2 foster fails when we added 2 of those neutered males to our family.
Years later we adopted another male from the same rescue. He had hip issues and also was very skittish around men. He loved women and young boys. It took over a year for him to be able to trust my husband fully. He was so well worth the effort. He lived to be over 9 years old and when we notified the rescue of his passing they were surprised telling us they figured he had passed years ago. We adopted him at 2 years old and they really only expected him to live another year.
The rescue knew of the breeder he had came from and had said his parents were the same.. very afraid of everyone and everything. The 2 would even shake when the furnace in the basement came on.
Our goals are to not breed temperament problems or genetic health problems into our puppies. There's nothing worse than falling in love with a dog, making him a member of the family only to have them pass away early from genetic issues that could have been prevented through testing.
Our love of the breed still keeps us in the rescue world of great danes in need. We adopted one special needs female who has multiple health issues due to bad breeding. It's not her fault ans she still deserves the best life she can possibly have. We also have a couple of owner surrender danes available for adoption currently. We have placed a few other in great homes. To date the dogs and families couldn't be happier.
